From a young age Sacha took to exploring his father’s factory and experimenting with the tools of the trade. By his late teens it blossomed into a true passion. He attended “La Chambre Syndicale de la Bijouterie,” one of Paris’ most prestigious jewelry design schools. During these years Sacha additionally studied under the tutelage of Archag Tovanian, an early member of the “Salon des Indépendants.” This group is recognized as a major influence to the beginnings of the Neo-Impressionist style of painting.
Not solely a designer, Sacha has explored a number of other fields including architecture, fashion, painting, sculpting, vintage car restoration and exotic travel. Prior to founding his company, he served in the U.S Armed Forces during the Cuban Missile Crisis of the early 1960s. Sacha explored the nation soon thereafter, traveling cross country by bus and motorcycle. These experiences served as the inspiration for many of the pieces contributing to the Vahan collections.
In 2009 Vahan Jewelry celebrated the addition of a fourth generation in the Der Calousdian tradition of design. An artist from a very young age like his father, Sacha’s eldest son Greg joined the company after a decade of working for fashion industry leaders such as Louis Vuitton, Brooks Brothers, Juicy Couture and Marc Jacobs. Greg has brought new insights and strategies to the business, and has partnered closely with his younger brother Cedric to grow the business.
Together with their parents, the Calousdian brothers have evolved the brand and successfully perpetuated the family’s legacy of making irresistible designer jewelry.
